He Had Scored Only 4 Goals In His Career. And Then He Scored One That Should Count For 4 More.

Djimi Traore, if he is talked about at all, gets a lot of hate from fans around the world. Some Liverpool supporters take to calling him the worst player to ever win the Champions League, and fans of MLS’ Seattle Sounders have fond memories of him being thoroughly average.

No matter your thoughts on him, there is no arguing this: the man has never scored more than one goal in any competition, league or cup, that he ever played in. That’s 4 goals total: one each in MLS, UEFA Cup, Coupe de France, and CONCACAF Champions League.

As a defender, scoring goals is obviously not what he needs to do, but one goal is still a shocking number to see in the “career goals” column, especially considering Traore made 192 appearances across the Premier League and Ligue 1.

Shocking, until you see this goal. It’s like he wrapped up all the awesomeness that should have been spread out across at least 5 other goals throughout his career, and stuffed it into one volley the likes of which make you wish some goals count as two.

How does it feel, Tigres? How does it feel to be the team that Djimi Traore did that to?

In all honesty, though, Tigres shouldn’t feel too bad. People too quickly forget just how good professional athletes are, even the mediocre ones.
