Two things stood out during the MLS Western Conference final first-leg in between the Rapids and the Sounders in Seattle. First, the lines on the field were markedly straight and where they were supposed to be in relation to the other lines on the field. Said lines did not need to be redrawn or painted over in a manner that would cause the game to be delayed. The lines marking the 18-yard box were particularly well-measured.
Second, Sounders attacking midfielder Nicolas Lodeiro became the franchise's all-time leading playoff scorer with four goals.
This is Lodeiro's first season with the team.
Kevin Doyle opened the scoring in the 13th minute, but Seattle equalized in the 19th minute via rookie sensation Jordan Morris.
A Lodeiro penalty in the 61st minute proved to be the difference. Seattle will take a 2-1 aggregate advantage into Commerce City, Colorado Sunday, although the Rapids do have an away goal.
