Chuck Blazer, the man who many believe is responsible for being the first big name caught in the U.S. Department of Justice's FIFA invesigation, pleading guilty, then flipping on everyone and causing the whole soccer world to erupt, has had his tesimony unsealed.
Blazer admitted to taking bribes for the locations of the 1998 World Cup (Blazer's bribe was allegedly from Morocco and not France, the country which ended up hosting the tournament) and 2010 World Cup, which is at the center of the whole fiasco.
Blazer also admitted taking bribes for the broadcast rights for the 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002 and 2003 Gold Cups. Blazer was a member of FIFA's executive committee from 1997-2003 and General Secretary of CONCACAF from 1990-2011. He is also, um, the nice word would be "eccentric." Some highlights: he kept a Trump Tower apartment of which the sole inhabitants were his cats, and he used to walk around with a parrot on his shoulder, which his ex-wife apparently trained to insult him. Read this profile on him. It is quite entertaining. Also his blog is amazing.
