Cristiano Ronaldo wants his son to grow up to be just like him. Whether or not that is possible will depend on a lot of factors (you know, like growing up and all that good stuff), but it seems that Ronaldo is trying to foster Cristiano Jr.’s love of the game, with out forcing him to be anything.
"I want my son to be a player. I am a footballer and I want him to be one too," the Real Madrid star told the Chinese channel Zhejiang Satellite TV.
"I think he has something of an athlete about him, he has athletic characteristics. Obviously he is very young, a baby, he's only five but he loves football, that is a big plus.”
“I have 30 balls at home, he is always with the ball and he loves it. But I will not force him to be a player because it comes naturally, it has to be his choice.
"He will be whatever he wants to be, I am not going to push him at all. But obviously I want Cristiano to be a player. A top one, like his dad."
Yes, like almost every other parent there is, Ronaldo says his son can do whatever he wants, but secretly we all know that he has certain hopes for the child.
We’ll see if Ronaldo’s hyper-competitive attune transfers to his son, not to mention his hyper athletic physique. Should his son get both, then there is a chance that he can come close to the kind of player Ronaldo is today.
I just hope that Ronaldo can walk the walk and not be too overbearing or harsh if his son shows that he cannot follow in his father’s footsteps. That kid’s got a lot to live up to should be choose the path of a footballer.
