The Envy-Inducing Numbers Behind The Brazil Players Salaries

Brazilian soccer players are like American basketball players — no matter where in the world there’s a professional soccer team, there’s likely to be a Brazilian playing for it. Brazil players salaries range from the lowest leagues to the highest-paid players in the world.

The best of the thousands of professional Brazilian soccer players make up the Seleção, and the 23 players chosen to represent Brazil’s World Cup team. All are well compensated by their professional clubs, but not all Brazil players salaries are created equally on the 2018 squad.

Neymar, for instance, makes $73 million per year. Backup goalkeeper Cassio makes about a quarter of a million dollars. Neymar’s salary makes up more than one third of the total of Brazil players salaries at the 2018 World Cup.

The numbers behind the Brazil players salaries for the national team are staggering. In all, the 23 players account for an annual wage bill north of $200 million — that’s an average of $8.7 million per player.
