Brazil Beats Germany In Penalties For Olympic Gold

Remember that time Germany beat Brazil 7-1 in the World Cup semifinals? Yeah, that's history now. Weverton came up with a save in penalties and Neymar scored his penalty (in addition to a monster free-kick earlier in the game) and Brazil became Olympic champions.

We're not sure if anyone out there knew this, but Neymar is really good.

We would be totally OK with watching this free-kick on a loop and nothing else for the rest of our lives.

The Germans are good too, though, and Max Meyer knotted it at one in the 59th minute.

Neither team could find separation after 90 minutes so we headed to extra time. Neyther team could find separation there either, so we headed to penalties.

And, in penalties, salvation. In the city overlooked by Christ the Redeemer, Brazil were redeemed against Germany. Weverton saved Nils Petersen's penalty and immediately after Neymar, captain of Brazil, finished it.

Redemption.
