With a 2-2 draw against Gimnasia La Plata on Wednesday night at the Estadio Juan Carlos Zerillo, Boca Juniors won a second straight Argentine Superliga title. But there was a problem: No Boca fans were allowed at the away match. So the team hopped in a bus, drove back to Buenos Aires and partied with its fans. And the Boca Juniors celebrations at La Bombonera were rightfully bonkers.

La Bombonera is one of the greatest atmospheres in the world and it was a bit of a shame Boca clinched the title away from home. The players donned goofy hats and oversized bottles of champagne to celebrate the title immediately after the match, but the stadium was empty and it just wasn’t right.

Fortunately, the club still had plenty of energy left after the match in La Plata to celebrate at home. La Bombonera was hopping and everything was right in the world.

One match remains this season for Boca Juniors, but the work is done in claiming a 33rd title, with second-place Godoy Cruz de Mendoza four points back. Only rival River Plate has more titles with 36 dating back to the start of the Primera División in 1891.
Former Manchester United, Manchester City, Juventus and Boca Juniors striker Carlos Tevez even earned a start for his boyhood club. This is Tevez’s third stint with Boca, the last two sandwiching some happy money times in China with Shanghai Shenhua.
