Barcelona Name Training Ground After Deceased Vilanova

When Tito Vilanova took over as Barcelona’s manager after Pep Guardiola’s departure, it was a continuation of the home grown tradition that had made the club the most successful in the world at the time. Tito was one of their own, a disciple of the Barca style. He was loved by the club, and was best of friends with Guardiola.

Vilanova was diagnosed with parotid gland cancer on December 19, 2012, months into his first season as manager. His condition steadily worsened, and on July 19, 2013 he resigned, no long able to undergo treatment and effectively managing his team at the same time. He died April 25, 2014.

Barcelona itself has been looking for a way to make the memory of Vilanova eternal, and it seems they have found just that. The club has announced that it will be naming its training ground “Camp Tito Vilanova” in his honor.

Now, Vilanova will get to share conquering the world with every player that sets foot on Camp Tito Vilanova
