Borussia Dortmund was forced to shut down its facilities and evacuate its stadium this week when a World War II era, unexploded bomb was found in the parking area next to its stadium.
What a coincidence, we were just talking about how we all need more World War II in our lives.
The bomb was found after an ariel photograph clued investigators into its location. Once found, authorities called for an evacuation of the threatened area and set about defusing the bomb.

Apparently, this is not all that uncommon. As you all should know, Germany was at the heart of World War II, and Dortmund specifically was bombed by the Allies and Soviets to near oblivion. So the discovery of an unexploded bomb is nothing new. They are often found in cities. This one just happens to be next to one of the largest gathering places in all of Germany: Borussia Dortmund’s stadium.
It seems things are now entirely under control. Since being found Thursday morning, the bomb has been defused. Hopefully by this guy, who we equally hope had this same expression on his face throughout the entire process:
Honestly, where on the hierarchy of stressful bomb squad situations does a 70-year-old unexploded bomb rank? Lord knows Thomas here - Can we call him Thomas? Let’s call him Thomas - looks like he can’t wait to get back home to perfecting the finish on his latest hand-made rocking chair.
In fact, it sounds like the only real obstructions of any kind that we can attribute to the bomb are the aforementioned evacuation and that Dortmund Manager Jurgen Klopp’s press conference ahead of the Schalke 04 game had to be rescheduled. If only all bombs had such toned-down impact on everyone's day.
