Bayern has won four of the last six matchups to Dortmund's two, with the most recent meeting ending in a 1-0 win for the Bavarian giants. Those six matches have seen Bayern score 18 goals and hold Dortmund to just five, keeping four clean sheets.
In the new season's early stages, Dortmund's chaotic nature has been on display for all to see. After opening the campaign with a 5-0 stroll to victory over Duisburg in the DFB Pokal cup and a convincing 3-0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach, Lucien Favre's side put in a poor display in a humbling 2-0 defeat to Augsburg.
Bayern, on the other hand, has just seen its 23-game win streak, which stretched back to February, come to an end at the hands of Hoffenheim. Prior to that 4-1 defeat, Flick's men had claimed the UEFA Super Cup with an extra time victory over Sevilla. That win in Hungary was preceded by a merciless 8-0 drubbing of Schalke, which parted ways with manager David Wagner not long after.
While Bayern has often gotten the better of Dortmund in the two sides' recent history, the inconsistent nature of Dortmund under Favre means his side could very well put in an inspired performance.
Dortmund will be without star attacker Jadon Sancho and first-choice goalie Roman Bürki, as well as Thorgan Hazard. Bayern will also have to make do without a star player as recent addition Leroy Sane misses out through injury, while defender David Alaba is considered doubtful.
