It is now time for us to explore the possibility that Zlatan Ibrahimovic might actually think that he, Zlatan, is Jesus.
We do not come to this conclusion lightly. No, much research has gone into this. Through our efforts, we have come to the conclusion that there is about a 25 percent chance that Zlatan is delusional and not just a narcissist.
Of course, why believe us? We are just a humble soccer website trying to make its way in the world, whereas Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the word "humble" are not familiar with one another.
We begin out investigation with the most recent evidence that Zlatan Ibrahimovic thinks he is the son of God. In a recent issue of FourFourTwo Magazine, the 23 under 23 issue to be exact, Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti told the magazine:
"Carlo Ancelotti was a bit tense, so Ibra approached him and asked him if he believed in Jesus. Ancelotti said yes, so Ibra told him: 'Good, so you believe in me. You can relax!' Zlatan is like this – he has a lot of self-confidence. This helps him to be a great player."
Certainly Verratti is right. Zlatan does have a lot of self-confidence. But is he Jesus? We continue with the evidence.
Next up is this video, of Zlatan naming his "best 11 ever." He includes himself, as Zlatan is wont to do. He also gives every player in his 11 a nickname see if you can spot his:
"Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the god." Simple arrogance, or something deeper? We continue our investigation.
Our third piece of evidence: this exchange with a Swedish reporter back in 2013.
Reporter: "Who will win the qualifier?"
Zlatan: "Only God knows."
Reporter: "It's kind of hard to ask him."
Zlatan: "You're talking to him now."
This was followed by a very Zlatan-y smirk, so we can safely assume Zlatan Ibrahimovic does not actually believe he's Jesus.
On second thought, he just might actually be Jesus.
