21,800 Seats And Only 2 Fans Bought Tickets. Worst Attended Soccer Match Ever?

Normally, even an average professional soccer match will draw thousands of fans. Not the case for a recent match up between two teams in the Colombian League, Atlético Huila and Alianza Petrolera. Incredibly, only 2 fans bought tickets to attend a match in a stadium with a capacity for a 20,000+ person crowd.

"That's true. The two people paid 40,000 pesos (about $13). That’s what we got by attendance," admitted Huila general manager, Carlos Barrero in an interview with the sports site FutbolRed.

Ironically, the rental to use Centenario Stadium is 26 million pesos, about $8,500.

The game, which ended 1-0 Huila, was played at the Centenario stadium in the city of Armenia, with capacity for 21,800 spectators.

Atletico Huila has been using the Centenario stadium for its home games due to renovations at its home stadium, the Guillermo Plazas Alcid, in the city of Neiva. The team expects to return its field in December.

Fortunately, Atletico Huila won the game and sits in 12th position in the Colombian soccer league (Liga Águila) with 7 points.
