The relationship between Mexico and their fans has been a little rough lately. However, a truce was established during the game against Costa Rica at the AT&T Stadium for the Gold Cup quarterfinals. The supporters cheered constantly and so enthusiastically that one particular fan almost kissed the wrong woman while celebrating El Tri's first goal of the night.
Ooops!
Mexican fan almost kisses the wrong woman
The scene unfolded seconds after Orbelín Pineda scored from the spot in the 52nd minute. Costa Rica had exerted significant pressure on Mexico throughout the entire first half, and the tension was palpable among the Mexican supporters.
However, Pineda's goal was so liberating that a fan decided to express his relief by kissing his girlfriend. The problem was that, for one split second, the guy mistakenly directed his intention toward the wrong woman. It was a brief instant during which the guy stared at the stranger to his right, only to quickly realize that his partner was actually on his left. Reacting just in time, he avoided disaster.

Phew!
No idea what happened when Erick Sánchez scored the final 2-0, but there it was the save of the night. No doubt.
After the victory over Costa Rica, Mexico now awaits the winner of the game between Jamaica and Guatemala in the semifinals. The game will be played on Wednesday, July 12, at 10 p.m. ET.
