After beginning his youth career with Chivas in Guadalajara, he was signed by Arsenal as a teenager. Then came the loans. While waiting, and hoping, for his Arsenal career to take off, he spent time with Celta Vigo, Salamanca, Osasuna and West Bromwich Albion. Arsenal was still uninterested in keeping Vela with their first team.

On March 9, Clint Dempsey turned 33. George Best, Eric Cantona and Michel Platini all retired before reaching that milestone. Zinedine Zidane, Pele and Jurgen Klinsmann all retired at 34. With that in mind, you could forgive Dempsey for slowing down as he reaches the later stages of his playing career.

Players in Major League Soccer are not happy with MLS salaries, according to a recent survey conducted by ESPNFC. 

The survey, taken by 123 active MLS players under the guise of anonymity, asked questions about the league on whole, the USMNT, and more, and one of the largest themes to arise from the answers is a dissatisfaction with salaries.

Didier Drogba is not above playing with US players, as the Sacramento Republic (which sounds like the name of a newspaper) found out when Drogba spent 10 days training with the team.

Drogba missed the Impact first two games of the season due to concerns about playing on turf (he made his season debut in Saturday's 2-0 loss to FC Dallas).
