Stop What You’re Doing Right Now And Check Out Léon’s Adorable New Mascot

The internet is full of cats. Cat videos, cat pics, cat GIFs, cat emojis. Personally, I don’t believe you can have too many cats. Case in point: this ridiculously adorable new Club Léon mascot.

While most Liga MX fans may have been gearing up for the first leg of the 2018 Apertura final on Thursday, which finished in a 0-0 draw between Cruz Azul and Club América, Club Léon unveiled its latest signing, perhaps the best offseason move of the year (in my opinion, at least).

We present to you Sambu, who is a baby lion, for obvious reasons.

Women’s Liga MX Final Illuminated By 30-Yard Wonder Strike In Front Of Over 33,000

The 2018 Liga MX Femenil Apertura Final commenced Tuesday with the first leg between Club América and Tigres at the Estadio Azteca. Given the poor state of the Azteca pitch and since the men’s Liga MX final pits América versus Cruz Azul (both tenants of the Azteca) on Dec. 13 and Dec. 16, the Femenil final was given the shaft — the game was played on a Tuesday with a 4 p.m. kickoff.

Cruz Azul Bound To End 21-Year Curse vs. América — Or Fail Miserably

It's going to happen: A Club América vs. Cruz Azul Liga MX final will kiss 2018 goodbye. La Máquina beat Monterrey, and Las Águilas destroyed Pumas in the semifinals last weekend, thus securing the high-voltage final most soccer enthusiasts in Mexico were looking forward to.

Maradona Drinks Beer And Punches People During Ascenso MX Final Defeat

Diego Maradona’s attempt to lift the 2018 Ascenso MX Apertura title with Dorados fell agonizingly short on Sunday night after Atlético San Luis triumphed 4-3 on aggregate after extra time.

Dorados won the first leg 1-0 back on Nov. 29, but Maradona was ultimately sent off during the game for threatening San Luis manager Alfonso Sosa with a clenched fist.

Night One Of The Liga MX Playoffs Featured A Banging Bicycle Kick

The Liga MX Apertura playoffs kicked off yesterday with number one seed Cruz Azul avoiding a “Cruzazulear” and defeating Querétaro 2-0 at Estadio Corregidora in the night’s first match, and that was followed by Monterrey’s 1-0 first leg win over Santos Laguna.

Liga MX Playoffs: Everything You Need To Know Before Strapping Yourself In

If you’re looking for a reason to watch the Liga MX playoffs, you must’ve missed the 2018 Clausura tournament. The 13 matches of the liguilla yielded 47 goals (an average of 3.62 per game), and it really was that fun from start to Santos Laguna’s triumphant finish. So if you’re looking for a way to jettison the 0-0 draw between Sporting Kansas City and Portland from your brain, check out the "Liga MX TV Schedule: Apertura Playoffs 2018" below, along with some team information and key players to watch.

Maradona Asked To Give His Opinion On Liga MX, Absolutely Nails It

Since being instilled as manager of Ascenso MX side Dorados de Sinaloa back in September, Diego Maradona has gone on to record his finest achievement in professional coaching — even greater than when Argentina secured 2010 World Cup qualification on the final matchday and Maradona celebrated by telling reporters to “suck it and keep on sucking it” — by leading the second division side to the Apertura final.

MLS Loses Another Coach To Mexico; Oscar Pareja Reportedly Leaving FC Dallas For Club Tijuana

Major League Soccer is losing another of its best coaches to Mexico.

Earlier this week, Atlanta United’s Tata Martino reportedly agreed to a four-year contract to coach the Mexico national team. Now, FC Dallas’ Óscar Pareja is leaving the states for Liga MX side Club Tijuana, according to reports from Ives Galarcep.

The Estadio Azteca Pitch Looks Like Total Jack

Next Monday, the Los Angeles Rams are set to “host” the Kansas City Chiefs in an NFL game at Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca. However, the league is reportedly looking into moving the game back to LA because the field, quite frankly, looks like a case of hellfire diarrhea.

Last May, the legendary stadium switched its pitch from natural grass to a hybrid surface, but with both Club America and Cruz Azul utilizing the Azteca, the grass has been a constant source of anxiety over the last few months.

Chivas Gets Confirmed Jersey And Opponent For Upcoming FIFA Club World Cup

By holding Iran’s Persepolis to a 0-0 draw in front of 100,000 at Azadi Stadium in Tehran, Japan’s Kashima Antlers won the AFC Champions League final 2-0 on aggregate and booked a 2018 FIFA Club World Cup quarterfinal match against Mexico’s Guadalajara on Dec. 15 in the United Arab Emirates.

The stars for Kashima were 22-year-old Japanese international Yuma Suzuki and the Brazilian duo of Léo Silva and Serginho, who’ll give Chivas everything they can handle come December.
