Arsenal climbed back to the top of the FA Women's Super League with a hard-fought 3-1 win over bottom side Bristol City, while Fran Kirby's early headed goal gave champions Chelsea a narrow 1-0 win over Birmingham City on Sunday.

Arsenal went behind to an Abi Harrison effort after six minutes, but goals either side of halftime by Jordan Nobbs and Caitlin Foord put them back in the driving seat, with Dutch ace Vivianne Miedema adding a third five minutes from full time.

USWNT star midfielders Sam Mewis and Rose Lavelle joined Manchester City in August. They’ve already got their new club within striking distance of winning the FA Women’s Cup.

Mewis scored her first City goal and Lavelle made her City debut in an impressive 2-1 win over Arsenal in the FA Women’s Cup semifinals on Thursday. 

The Gunners had won their first three matches of the season by a combined 19-2, including a 4-0 rout of Alex Morgan’s Tottenham on Saturday. 

Alex Morgan didn’t get on the field in her first match at Tottenham. The USWNT striker was an unused substitute as Spurs lost to North London rival Arsenal in the quarterfinals of the FA Women’s Cup. But Morgan did get a front-row view of the gorgeous Jordan Nobbs goal vs Tottenham that sent Arsenal on its way to a 4-0 win.

Alex Morgan, having apparently eschewed any quarantines like Tobin Heath and Christen Press underwent, is set to make her debut with Women’s Super League club Spurs in the coming days. The first looks of USWNT players with their new clubs in England are steadily flowing. Less than 24 hours after Tottenham dropped an exclusive Alex Morgan interview, Manchester United has offered its rebuttal with a Tobin Heath interview.

Alex Morgan is a Spurs player. It’s a sentence that I haven’t gotten used to saying after she left for England earlier this month. Morgan traded the NWSL for the FA Women’s Super League and shed some light on that decision in her first interview with Tottenham.

England women's soccer head coach Phil Neville says he hopes to lead the British team at the Tokyo Olympics next year and expects the Football Association (FA) to decide shortly as to whether he will be handed the reins.

Manchester United women's captain Katie Zelem has been withdrawn from England's training camp after testing positive for COVID-19, the FA said on Wednesday.

Zelem, 24, was named in coach Phil Neville's 30-player squad last week for the Lionesses' training camp at St George's Park.

The FA and the club said the midfielder will now self-isolate for 10 days as per the health protocol.

On Wednesday, it was Tobin Heath and Christen Press who ditched the NWSL for greener pastures in England, signing with Manchester United of the FA Women’s Super League.
