A Young Man Killed His Friend Debating Messi vs Ronaldo This Weekend

After a weekend in which both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi absolutely killed it, we start our week off with news that they actually killed someone. Well, not they themselves, but the idea of them; the debate of Messi vs Ronaldo killed someone.

Two men in India, 21-year-old Michael Chukwuma and 34-year-old Obina Durumchukwu, were arguing over whether Messi or Ronaldo was the best player in the world when things escalated into violence.

Durumchukwu threw his glass into Chukwuma’s face, “causing small injuries” to Chukwuma. The younger Chukwuma proceeded to assault the older Durumchukwu with the pieces of glass. Durumukwu “died due to heavy bleeding.”

As if sensing the gravity with which their play is considered, both Lionel Messi and Ronaldo absolutely destroyed the competition this weekend. I can't say that their brilliant performances caused such the fiery debate between Chukwuma and Durumchukwu, but if any two performances could fuel such a debate, it's these two. 

Messi was his usual brilliant self. He put on a vintage display: dribbling beyond defenders at will, dinking his trademark lofted pass, and scoring a goal the likes of which makes you question if soccer has indeed gotten too easy for him.

Ronaldo, on the other hand, might have had an even more satisfactory victory. He was being jeered and whistled by his own fans for the first half of Real Madrid vs Celta Vigo. He then proceeded to score a 35-yard-screamer (yeah, he didn’t hear much after that), a belter of a free kick, and added one more. He became the second leading scorer in La Liga history in the process (behind Messi).

If this all doesn’t make you appreciate just Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo (Messi vs Ronaldo killed someone!!!) you don’t deserve to watch soccer.
