United States men’s national team goalkeeper Matt Turner had a solid game in goal for Nottingham Forest on Saturday vs. Manchester United despite his side losing 3-2.
Turner didn’t have it easy at Old Trafford as he made seven saves during the game. The American keeper’s best moment came in the 54th minute when Antony curled a beautiful shot on goal and Turner made a full-stretch save to deny the goal.

Forest will be disappointed to come away with zero points after they went up 2-0 just four minutes into the game. Taiwo Awoniyi scored in the second minute and then Willy Boly doubled the lead two minutes later.

A red card for Forest’s Joe Worrall in the 67th minute didn’t make the job any easier as United were able to complete the comeback.
Let’s look at the three goals Turner did concede.
The first goal was scored from point-blank range as Christian Eriksen made it 2-1 in the 17th minute. Turner denied an initial shot but couldn’t do anything about the goal.
The second goal from Casemiro was a breakdown in defense from Forest. Turner might wish he did better to get across his goal, but he was left out to dry here.
The final goal was a penalty kick from Bruno Fernandes. Turner guessed correctly but the placement and power were too much.
FotMob gave Turner a 7.3 rating out of 10 which was one of the best for Forest on the day.
Forest’s next EPL game will be against another giant as they travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea next Saturday.
