Manchester United's Luke Shaw has suffered a horrific leg break during Tuesday's Champions League match between Manchester United and PSV Eindhoven. PSV's Hector Moreno made the tackle.
The injury comes after a bright start to the season from Shaw, who impressed in a full-back role for the Red Devils.
Shaw burst through PSV's 18 in the 15th minute when he was tackled by Moreno. It must be said that the tackle, while clearly much more than was called for, seemed to be a case of lost control rather than intent to hurt, and Moreno looked immediately regretful of his action.
Shaw was strechered off the field after a 10 minute delay.
This being the age of social media, Shaw posted this tweet soon after leaving the field.
Thank you everyone for your messages , words can't describe how gutted I am , my road to recovery starts now, I will come back stronger.

It is good to see him in good spirits, and The18 wishes him all the best in his recovery.
UPDATE: Manchester United has released initial diagnosis.
Our thoughts go out to @LukeShaw23, who has suffered a double fracture of the leg. He will have an operation on his return to Manchester.

No date has been set yet for Shaw's return. Breaks of this severity often keep players out for the season.
