ESPN hosted their annual sports award show, the ESPY's, on Wednesday night and US Soccer came out with a big win. They were awarded the Best Moment award for their performance in their first game of the World Cup against Ghana. As many of you remember it started off with Clint Dempsey's goal in the first minute and then ended with John Brooks' game-winning goal in the 86th.
This award had some competitive nominations including Kevin Durant's MVP acceptance speech and Mariano Rivera's last game as a New York Yankee. Both moments were very emotional, but they did not capture the whole country as the United States' performance in that initial and crucial game against Ghana. Watch the montage ESPN created for their performance along with Dempsey's acceptance speech below. Their award also sparked a USA chant from the ESPY's audience!
