Sporting Kansas City, last year’s MLS Cup champions, visited the White House earlier this week before their clash with D.C. United Friday.
They presented President Obama with a number 44 jersey with “Obama” on the back in a glass case, as well as a medal.
KC forward Dom Dwyer wanted to take a selfie with Obama, but had to settle for taking one with his teammates at the White House instead. Dwyer also documented the visit with the MLS’s snapchat account.
Dwyer, an English citizen, was especially excited for the visit because he plans to switch nationalities and someday play for the U.S. Men’s National Team.
