We know what you're thinking: how did a random soccer fan leave a match with half a player’s official uniform, specifically the bottom half?
On Saturday Leeds United beat Brentford 1-0. The game came to an end and all the player’s cleared the field except for one. A fan grabbed Leeds United's Gaetano Berardi’s attention after calling him over and asking for the player’s shirt. Berardi had to deny the fan’s request because giving away a game-worn shirt is frowned upon by Leeds. Earlier this season when Manchester United ran into a similar issue. However, the Leeds United defender did not let his fan leave empty-handed.
Berardi stripped down to his underwear, allowing the fan to walk away with the next best thing: his smelly shorts.
It only took a simple sentence to get the player undressed, but it's a moment the fan will never forget. It's unclear whether Berardi walked back to his team's locker room in his underwear or if he asked for the fan's pants in return, but for now we will just wonder what the fan will possibly do with the player's game-worn shorts. Will he wear them? Will he wash them? We don't know, but for now, here's a tweet from the lucky guy who left with something he never expected.
"No sorry, not allowed to give you my shirt" he said! But, you can have my .......quality!
