A Sebastian Giovinco double helped Toronto FC to a 4-0 victory over Eastern Conference rivals New York City FC on Sunday. Giovinco skipped around an attempted tackle from Andrea Pirlo like he wasn’t even there (which is close to the truth) and curled in his first goal from distance.

His second came in the 67th minute, and it marked his 50th goal in MLS and his 10th free kick strike, good for the league record. Also, check out Pirlo (briefly) in the wall on this one. Yes, he’s an absolute legend, but his teammates can’t feel great about that when watching film.

While Giovinco’s stats have been absurd through three seasons with Toronto, this season looks destined to be about more than personal accolades for the Italian.
Toronto are beginning to look like the clear favorites for the Supporters’ Shield and ultimately MLS Cup after another beatdown of a rival at BMO Field. NYC FC only trailed Toronto by three points in the Eastern Conference heading into the match, but the gulf between the teams was evident as a full strength TFC registered a comprehensive victory.
