Vitesse players were able to share a laugh with referee Jochem Kamphuis during today’s Eredivisie match against FC Twente, although the Twente players were probably less amused. Vitesse’s 5-0 win confirmed Twente’s relegation to the Eerste Divisie.
The club from the city of Enschede will now play in the second tier after winning the top division title as recently as 2010, when the club was managed by Englishman Steve McClaren.
But back to the game’s standout highlight. Here’s Kamphuis clumsily going to ground after colliding with Vitesse winger Navarone Foor. In the ensuing discussion, Foor then books the ref for simulation.

We’re glad that everyone saw the lighter side of things here. That’s not always been the case in football history.

American defender Matt Miazga registered 79 minutes for Vitesse in the win, picking up his sixth yellow card of the season. Vitesse currently sit in sixth, three points behind Utrecht in fifth.
