The October 2018 FIFA rankings were released Thursday and France is no longer the best team in the world — at least when it comes to arbitrary numerical rankings.
Belgium, which was tied with France at No. 1 in September, moved into sole position atop the October 2018 FIFA rankings. Brazil follows France in third while Croatia and England, which jumped over Uruguay, round out the top five.

Germany fell further than anyone in the top 15, dropping two spots to 14th, just ahead of the Netherlands, which jumped two spots after routing Germany 3-0. Colombia was the best mover in the top 15, jumping three spots to No. 11 ahead of CONMEBOL rivals Argentina and Chile.
Mexico dropped out of the top 15, moving back one spot to No. 16. El Tri is still the top team in Concacaf, with the U.S. also falling one position to 23rd and Costa Rica remaining in 37th.
The biggest mover in the October 2018 FIFA rankings was tiny Gibraltar, which moved up eight spots to 190 (out of 211). The nation won its first ever UEFA match on Oct. 13 against Armenia in the UEFA Nations League and followed it up with another 2-1 win over Lichtenstein.
