The NWSL minimum salary will more than double for next season, from $7,200 to 15,000.
Woo.
Even if it is (more than) doubling, that's not much in the way of an increase It still all but guarantees players will have to work second and even third jobs to be able to afford their bills, especially in expensive markets like Seattle, Portland, Chicago and Boston.
I'm not privy to the NWSL's finances, so I'm not sure how much of the minimum salary figure is the NWSL not being able to pay players real money and how much is the NWSL deciding they don't have to, but something's gotta give eventually.
Hopefully the NWSL will pay all its players a living wage sooner rather than later. Maybe double the minimum salary again next year?
