The president of a small Spanish airline has intimated that expansion of the Barcelona airport is not possible because planes are not allowed to fly over Lionel Messi's house. Vueling President Javier Sanchez-Prieto said a new terminal could not be built because of restrictions on planes flying near where the Barcelona star lives.
From Marca:
Sanchez-Prieto said that the airport's runways are limited "because you cannot pass over where Messi lives" and added "this doesn't happen anywhere else in the world."
Messi lives in Gava, a suburb of Barcelona, about 10 kilometers from the airport. Gava reportedly has an environmental restriction preventing planes from flying over the town. Messi's Barcelona teammates Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho also live in the area.
So, if you happen to own an airplane, don't fly it near Messi's house. You will get in trouble.
