Lionel Messi waved to the Parisian crowds on Tuesday after the news officially broke that he will be joining Paris Saint-Germain on a two-year deal with an option for a third. Messi landed at Le Bourget airport to finalize the greatest transfer in European soccer history. For those asking, “what did Messi’s shirt say?” his t-shirt read: This is Paris.

The scenes in Paris are lively, just not as extreme as some fans claim it to be.
The somber mood in Barcelona is real. While Paris welcomed Messi on Tuesday, crews got to work taking down imagery of the Argentine at Camp Nou.
Workers removed an image of soccer star Lionel Messi from a mural at Barcelona’s soccer stadium, marking an end of the Argentine player’s association with the club he joined at age 13.
