Kylian Mbappé is unplayable right now.
After helping France win the World Cup over the summer, he scored two goals in his first match back with PSG last week. He added another goal and an assist on Saturday against Angers, helping the defending champion to a 3-1 victory.
After coming off the bench at halftime last week, Mbappé started and played the full 90 for the first time this season. With the match tied at the break, the 19-year-old Frenchman broke the deadlock with a wonderful volley in the 51st minute.
Mbappé knew he didn’t need to blast the shot and instead relied on his technique to guide it into the far corner.
But the teenager wasn’t done. He set up Neymar for a goal in the 66th minute to put the match away.
After a clever one-two with Adrien Rabiot, Mbappé could’ve blasted the ball across the face of the goal. Instead, he wisely laid it back to Neymar, who was never going to miss, not when he had to show off whatever was written on his wrist.
PSG now has three wins from three, leading the Ligue 1 table with a plus-seven goal differential — not that anyone’s surprised.
The only question this season in league play is who scores the most goals for PSG: Mbappé, Neymar or Edinson Cavani, who also found the back of the net with the opener 12 minutes in. So far Neymar and Mbappé lead the way with three followed by Cavani with one. Cavani led the team last year with 28. Tim Weah, an 18-year-old American international, has two, one of which was in league play, but did not make it into the 18 on Saturday.
