Tim Weah has had nothing short of a disappointing first six months in Italy.
It has been reported that Juventus are strongly considering selling Timothy Weah at the end of the season after struggling to consistently get into Massimiliano Allegri’s squad week-in and week-out.

According to sources, Weah already had interest from a set of Premier League and Ligue 1 clubs for a loan transfer in January that were rejected by both the club and the player. However, if his situation doesn’t improve at the club and a good offer for both the American and Juventus arrives in the summer, he could be on his way out.

Tommaso Barbieri, an academy product that is currently playing on loan with Serie B’s Pisa, would be considered Weah’s replacement for the 2024/25 season.

Weah arrived to Juventus from LOSC Lille for $11 million, signing a five-year contract until 2028 just last summer. His big-break transfer, following his successful individual and collective seasons in Ligue 1, promised much of the things we haven’t been able to see from the American thus far.
Since missing five league matches due to a hamstring injury at the end of last year, the midfielder has only been able to start in three of the last 10 games for Juventus in the Serie A. He hasn’t provided a goal contribution since Oct. 22.
Throughout the season, the American has played only 33 percent of total minutes, primarly as a right midfielder with a heavy defensive duty in Allegri’s tactics — a reason for his low contributions in the attack.
In the season prior to his signing with Juventus, Weah proved himself as a multifunctional winger in France, playing on both defensive and offensive flanks with Lille in the 2022/23 campaign. He played 16 games as a full-back.
A 'curse' that has sentenced him to a more defensive role with Juve despite his offensive qualities.
Now, while his speed and positional awareness allow him to play in a more defensive role, it would be interesting to see the American placed in a position closer to the opposing goal in Turin, a position he takes on when he’s playing for the USMNT.
Timothy Weah and Juventus will continue to fight for what’s left in their turbulent season, with the club standing second in the Serie A and currently in the Coppa Italia semifinal versus Lazio. Let's hope Tim is able to prove himself along the way.
