John DeBrito, an original member of the New England Revolution, died at age 51.
The cause of DeBrito's death on Wednesday was not immediately known.

"The club sends its condolences to the family and loved ones of John DeBrito, a 1996 original draftee & member of the #NERevs," the Revolution wrote on Twitter.
DeBrito, who was a defender and a midfielder, made six appearances with the U.S. men's national team from 1991-92.
DeBrito was selected by the Revolution in the 11th round of the MLS Inaugural Draft in 1996. He made 26 appearances with the Revolution before having stints with the New York/New Jersey MetroStars, Kansas City Wizards, Columbus Crew and Dallas Burn.
