A couple of days ago, one of the world's most notorious match fixers was interviewed by CNN.
His name is Wilson Raj Perumal. The Singaporean match fixer says he never counted how many matches he fixed, but thinks, “it should be between 80-100 football matches.”
These matches range from games at the Olympics, to World Cup qualifiers, to women’s World Cup matches, to the CONCACAF Gold Cup and the African Cup of Nations. Terry Stearns, former FIFA investigator, said that Perumal had 38 countries in one phone book contact list, and his laptop address book had over 50 associations in it. Thats about 25% of FIFA’s associations for one match fixer.
Perumal says it was easy, that he “was on the bench at times, and telling players what to do, giving orders to the coach.” He then goes on to say, “it was that easy. There was no policing whatsoever.” Take a look.
