This Gylfi Sigurdsson goal is so fun to watch, it almost makes up for the fact that Southampton proceeded to bludgeon Everton 4-1 on Sunday– scoring three goals in the second half after this Sigurdsson stunner gave the Toffees a glimmer of hope.

Sigurdsson clearly watched Top Gun just before he went out on the pitch. Crossing towards the goal with two Southampton defenders on him, he hits the brakes and they fly right by, opening a clear window for him to wind up and deliver a stunning goal that hits the woodwork three times before going in.
Watch again from this angle:
Unfortunately for Everton fans, it only took Southampton seven minutes in the second half to regain their advantage. They then proceeded to extend it, adding insult to injury for an Everton squad that lost 5-1 in the Europa League just earlier this week.
Still, Nick Offerman (a.k.a. Ron Swanson) would be so proud of this Sigurdsson goal. It deserves a handcrafted wood smiley face emoji...even if the rest of the Everton squad deserves a solid wood poop emoji.
This was Sigurdsson's first league goal for Everton, but not his first goal overall for the club. Check out this 50-yard screamer he scored back in August to put the Toffees in the Europa League.
