Cristiano Ronaldo has made it very clear that he would like to stay at Real Madrid for the rest of his career.
The Real Madrid star has been linked to a number of different clubs throughout his career, with few destinations proving to be too unrealistic to merit speculation. MLS was a reported possibility, as well as Manchester United, PSG, and even the Chinese Super League.
But, speaking to La Sixta’s “Jugones” show, Ronaldo made it very clear that if it is up to him, he will stay at Real Madrid:
"It's obvious I want to stay I here. I think I am going to retire at Real Madrid.”
"Renewal after the Champions League final? Let's see. Real Madrid would be smart if they extend my contract.
"I am happy at Real Madrid. I can see no club better than this one.”
The 31-year-old Ronaldo has had great success at Real Madrid since transferring from Manchester United in 2009. He has won La Liga, the Copa del Rey, the Champions League, and has become Real Madrid’s all-time leading scorer. In doing all of this, he has established himself as one of the greatest players of all time.
Perhaps it should be no surprise that Ronaldo wants to stay at the club that served as a platform for such success.
Regardless of Ronaldo’s feelings, his future does lie partly in the hands of Real Madrid. If the club decides to sell him, it won’t matter all that much if Ronaldo wants to stay or not.
