Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez is moving to Germany. The Mexican striker never really clicked with manager Louis van Gaal at Manchester United, being sent on loan to Real Madrid last season, and is now headed on a permanent transfer to Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.
Chicharito's ghastly performance against Brugge likely proved to be the last straw, as far as the Red Devils were concerned.
The $18 million move will land Chicharito at one of the more offensive-minded teams in the Bundesliga, alongside striker Stefan Kiessling.
The 27-year-old will hope to be in goal-scoring form when El Tri's Confederations Cup playoff against the United States rolls around in October.
Chicharito's agent has confirmed to @ESPNmx that the striker is now a Bayer Leverkusen player. https://t.co/wb7TbrPolI
