We are only hours away from the most decisive and intense Copa Libertadores final of all time. On Saturday, Boca Juniors will visit El Monumental to play the second game against River Plate after the 2-2 draw at La Bombonera on November 11, and the fans are making their desires clear.
Boca Juniors fans sing during games, reversioning a super popular song by the famous Argentinian musician Fito Paez:
"Give joy, joy to my heart,
I'm only asking you to win today,
The Copa Libertadores is my obssesion,
You have to leave your heart and soul on the field,
And you will see, that we are not like those ____ from River Plate!"
And it is their obsession. The Copa Libertadores is their true obssesion, so much that the squad had one last Copa Libertadores practice on Thursday at the stadium and the supporters were let in. The problem is that nobody imagined that the stadium would be completely packed at max capacity.
In all, 50,000 fans showed up to a training session to cheer their lungs out like they do every Sunday and established a world record. Nowhere, ever in history, has a soccer team had so many people attending to a training session. In fact, the previous record was from Rayados de Monterrey with 31,853 fans in 2017. They just beat the record by 20,000 people.
This could only happen in Argentina, and in Copa Libertadores.
