It has been 25 years since Arsenal traveled to the United States, but this Saturday the Premier League giant will take on the New York Red Bulls in a friendly in Red Bull Arena.
The Gunners will fly to New York later this week, but the club and manager Arsene Wenger are excited about the opportunity to grow the game in America following a World Cup where so many Americans embraced the sport.
“It is the first time since I [started to] go to World Cups that I've been stopped by so many American people,” the manager told Arsenal Player.“It is the perfect time to go. I always wanted to go with Arsenal to the United States, so I'm personally very happy to do it.”
Below is a funny video of Arsenal players Carl Jenkinson, Serge Gnabry, Kieran Gibbs and Mathieu Flamini attempting famous New York phrases in their best New York accents. The match will be televised on ESPN2 at 5 P.M. ET.
