It’s derby week in the MLS season and fans have already started to heat up the highly-anticipated match in Los Angeles. Literally.
A user on X went viral at the start of the week after posting a video of him burning a vintage (and probably very expensive) LA Galaxy jersey ahead of the derby between the seven-time MLS champions and LAFC this weekend.
Former LA Galaxy fan burns jersey now that he supports LAFC
The fan stuck a flare inside the club’s 2001 MLS season away jersey with the caption: “Happy Derby Week!”

A very unique way of saying you don’t like your city rivals… to say the least. What a waste of such a precious jersey.
However, despite hating the Galaxy so much to the point of burning their jersey, users reacting to the post quickly did their research and found out that the person burning the jersey was actually an LA Galaxy fan in the past. Well, well, well.
“Galaxy fan of life but the metro to DWTLA. All on board for LAFC!” was one of the old tweets found on his X account.

Yikes.
Following the discovery, the fan confessed his previous support for the Galaxy, blaming his switch to the LAFC fandom after he realized LA Galaxy was a ‘Mickey Mouse team’ and not a ‘serious club.’
"Oh brother, this guy stinks!"
This is ‘El Tráfico’ for you — a rivaly that is, in many cases, between two fan bases that once cheered for the same team representing their beloved city.
