Chicharito lidera una campaña para detener un cántico de fútbol homofóbico

Javier "Chicharito" Hernández se ha asociado con el presidente de la Federación Mexicana de Fútbol, ​​Decio de María, en una campaña contra los cánticos homofóbicos y discriminatorios en los partidos de fútbol.

“Abrazados por el fútbol” invita a los fanáticos a unirse en una postura contra la violencia física y verbal mientras celebran la individualidad de la familia futbolística mexicana.

Junto a Chicharito en un video para la campaña están los internacionales mexicanos Andrés Guardado, Rafa Márquez, Héctor Herrera y muchos otros. El principal objetivo de la campaña ha estado vinculado a erradicar el grito “eeh puto” de los partidos. El canto ha sido objeto de un mayor escrutinio como una forma de prejuicio y homofobia.

La campaña se describe como un "esfuerzo colectivo que incluye a toda la familia del fútbol mexicano para promover el respeto por los demás y rechazar la violencia física y verbal".

La declaración de misión de “Abrazados por el fútbol” incluye un compromiso personal de “reconocer que todas las personas tienen la misma dignidad y poseen los mismos derechos” y de “disculparme por las veces que he herido a otros, incluso sin saberlo”.

El principal debate en torno al canto "eeh puto" se refiere al uso generalizado del término. Un argumento de los fanáticos de El Tri que usan el cántico sostiene que la palabra significa “cobarde”, y no algo más homofóbico en contexto.

Sin embargo, esta promesa reconoce que usted sigue siendo ofensivo y utiliza un término despectivo mientras crea un entorno poco acogedor e inseguro para personas y grupos que durante mucho tiempo han sido blanco de violencia, intolerancia y opresión
