When you see a pitch invader waving a flag, running naked and/or evading security personnel on TV, it is because their plan has succeeded. But among those who reach the glory, there are also plenty of pitch invaders whose dreams die before they can set foot on the grass.
Take, for instance, this Club América fan who tried to enter the Alfonso Lastra field but instead became the poster boy for one of the most embarrassing pitch invasion attempts in recorded history.
Worst pitch invasion attempt ever
The attempt occurred during the first leg of the Clausura 2023 quarterfinals between América and Atlético de San Luis. In the images captured by a phone camera, you can see a fan standing from his seat and starting to head toward the pitch while a woman cheers him on, saying, "Run, run, run."
A security guard reacted in time, and although he didn't catch him properly, he managed to touch the fan's ankle, enough to destabilize him while he was jumping over a set of stairs, causing him to painfully fall into a pit filled with murky, dirty water.

Yes, ouch!
The guy quickly stood up, wet, sore, and ready to be escorted by the police in the stadium, while fans around him serenaded him with a well-deserved "pendejo" chant.
