US Soccer's Response To Megan Rapinoe's Protest Was Dumb And Bad

Megan Rapinoe has been kneeling during the national anthem during NWSL games in support of NFL player Colin Kaepernick's protest against racial inequality in the USA, and there was some speculation ast to whether she would do it for USWNT matches.

Barcelona Plot USA Takeover With NWSL Team First On The Agenda

They came, they saw, they conquered. That’s the American plan for FC Barcelona and club president Josep Maria Bartomeu following the opening of a Barca office in New York on Tuesday.

The Empire State Building projected the Blaugrana colors, Ronaldinho completed the ribbon-cutting ceremony with a signature no-look pass into a mini-goal and the Barcelona flag was hoisted outside Barca’s new headquarters in Midtown Manhattan.

Megan Rapinoe Kneels During National Anthem In Support Of Colin Kaepernick

Megan Rapinoe has joined NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick in his silent protest of racial inequality in America by not standing during the national anthem.

Rapinoe plays for the Seattle Reign, and before the Reign's game against thChicago Red Stars Sunday night Rapino knelt while the Star Spangled Banner was being played.

This is what Rapinoe told American Soccer Now:

A Pitch Invading Creep Goes After Alex Morgan

It wasn’t a particularly good day at the office for Alex Morgan and her club side the Orlando Pride on Saturday. The Pride were defeated 4-2 by the Houston Dash at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston, Texas.

Orlando were seemingly done and dusted by the game's 80th minute, the Dash dominating proceedings and holding a comfortable 3-0 advantage. However, Morgan and the Pride were able to pull one back after a clever set piece routine allowed the USWNT striker to break through on goal. Her finish was characteristically precise, nestling into the far corner.

4.49 Seconds After Kick-Off, She Hammered In This Goal From 57 Yards Out

For the preseason opponents of the University of Missouri-St. Louis Tritons, this isn’t what you’d refer to as a dream start. 4.49 seconds into the match, they find themselves down 1-0 to UMSL thanks to this wonder goal from Triton midfielder/forward Kayla Delgado.

The opposition goalkeeper stands atop her 18-yard box as the referee blows for kick-off, presumably extremely excited to get under way in the brilliant Missouri sunshine.

Hope Solo Calls An Early End To Her Club Season, Reportedly Considering Retirement

Hope Solo’s six-month ban from the USWNT, and the termination of her contract with the national team, has resulted in the decorated goalkeeper releasing another statement with regards to her status with the Seattle Reign, her NWSL club side.

“After careful consideration, I have decided to end my season with the Seattle Reign, an organization I love playing for. Mentally, I am not there yet,” reads the statement.

With A Six-Month Suspension And Her Contract Terminated, Hope Solo’s U.S. Career Is Over

For the United States Soccer Federation, it’s seemingly a case of enough finally being enough. Following Hope Solo’s infamous declaration that Sweden were a “bunch of cowards” after their victory over the U.S., America’s governing body has handed Solo a six month suspension and terminated her contract with the women’s national team.

UCLA's Amber Munerlyn Scored A Goal Zlatan Would Be Envious Of

You never really know where or when you're going to stumble upon a moment of magic. Viewers of UCLA vs. San Diego State Friday were treated to such a moment by UCLA senior forward/defender (really, we are not making that position up) Amber Munerlyn.

The chip is cool, but the first touch is a thing of beauty.

Germany Notch A Victory For Football By Defeating Sweden 2-1 In Gold Medal Match

After watching Portugal capture Euro 2016 by winning only a single match in regular time, the fear here was that we were about to witness more of the same on the women’s side of the game. Sweden had ridden their luck to the gold medal match on the strength of two penalty shootout victories.

Against Germany, they came undone. The first forty-five minutes appeared to give strength to the notion that Sweden were destined to win gold, but Germany simply blew them away in the second half. A 67th minute Sweden goal wasn’t enough to overturn the lead Germany had built.

Canada Defeats Brazil 2-1 For Olympic Bronze

Canada have medaled. Brazil have not.

Here's how it went down:

Ashley Lawrence is a burner and as such she burned Brazil's entire defense on a counterattack and put the ball on a plate for 17-year-old (!) Deanne Rose to slot home.
