Russia Banned From 2022 World Cup For Doping Offenses

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has hit Russia with a four-year ban from international sport after a special meeting at the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Switzerland resulted in a unanimous vote to suspend the nation.

The suspension results in Russia being banned from participating at next summer’s Olympic Games in Tokyo and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. However, the decision from WADA doesn’t affect Russia’s participation at UEFA Euro 2020 since the tournament isn’t classified as a “major event.”

Qatar Wary Of Drunk English Fans As Organizers Try To Make Beer Cheaper For 2022 World Cup

Beer in Qatar may be subsidized for the 2022 World Cup, but organizers are worried about the behavior of English fans.

The Qatar 2022 World Cup Logo Is As Boring As It Is Depressing

FIFA's unveiling of the 2022 World Cup logo was . . . underwhelming. The unveiling took place in Qatar's capital Doha on Tuesday at around 8:00 p.m. local time, with thousands of spectators watching as the logo was projected on billboards and buildings throughout the city.

Neighbors Indonesia And Malaysia Really, Really Don’t Like Each Other

The long, grueling road of Asian qualifying for the 2022 World Cup began back in June with the first round and continued today with the start of the second round of proceedings. A massive fixture went down this morning in Central Jakarta, pitting fierce rivals Indonesia against neighbors Malaysia.

Workers In Qatar Go On Strike Due To Inhumane Conditions

Video footage has circulated around social media of construction workers in Qatar going on strike in response to the inhumane working conditions they have dealt with during stadium construction for the upcoming 2022 World Cup. Mexico's Hector Moreno Joins Al-Gharafa In Qatar

El Tri star Hector Moreno has made a switch from Real Sociedad to Al-Gharafa in Qatar. The Mexican defender has called an end to his European adventure at the age of 31.

Moreno is arguably one of Mexico’s most consistent players over the years and has been an ever-present figure with El Tri.

Recently proving his ability at the top by playing in Mexico’s successful 2019 Gold Cup run, he almost missed it due to injury but he ended up being able to play and helped lead the team to top the United States in the final.

2022 World Cup: Latest Images Of Stadiums Springing Up Across The Qatari Deserts

The 2022 World Cup in Qatar is, on the whole, unfathomable. The mind boggles at an expenditure of $200 billion, while a current reported death toll of over 1,400 migrants is like combining the casualties of the Falklands War and 2011 Egyptian revolution. All this to kick that ball around.

Neymar Ruled Out Of Copa América After Rupturing Ankle Ligaments During Friendly

When Brazil opens play at the 2019 Copa América in eight days time, it’ll do so without the influential Neymar. During last night’s friendly against Qatar, the 27-year-old was on the receiving end of a robust but fair challenge from Assim Madibo, ultimately resulting in a ligament rupture in his right ankle

Tim Weah Nutmegs Defender And Scores To Send USA Into U-20 World Cup Round Of 16

The U.S. secured passage to the Round of 16 at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup by defeating Qatar 1-0 thanks to a goal from 19-year-old PSG forward Timothy Weah on Thursday. It was, in all honesty, the American’s worst performance so far in Poland, but the result sees the team finish runners-up behind Ukraine in Group D.

The U.S. now awaits the result of tomorrow’s meeting between France and Mali — a France victory or draw will see a knockout round clash against Les Bleus, but a Mali victory would see the U.S. play against the African side.

FIFA Fails In Bid To Expand 2022 World Cup To 48 Teams

Despite president Gianni Infantino’s last-ditch visit to Kuwait in an attempt to coerce the nation into co-hosting the 2022 World Cup with Qatar in order to expand the field from 32 to 48 teams, FIFA has now admitted failure in its expansion plan.

The next World Cup will remain a 32-team affair taking place between Nov. 21 and Dec. 18 solely in Qatar.
