Kevin De Bruyne calls out FIFA and UEFA saying money speaks louder than players’ voices

Manchester City midfielder and Belgium captain Kevin De Bruyne said money talks louder to FIFA and UEFA as he raised concerns over the impact of a crammed calendar on players' health and performance.

All three European club competitions have been expanded to 36 teams this season and FIFPRO's European member unions have started legal action against FIFA over the expanded men's 32-team Club World Cup, starting next June in the United States.

The nominees for the Ballon d’Or (best soccer player of the year) were released on Wednesday and five American women were named to the 30-player shortlist. Shockingly, star defender Naomi Girma wasn’t one of the five.

The Ballon d'Or is an annual award determined by French magazine "France Football."

Trinity Rodman, Sophia Smith, Mallory Swanson, Lindsey Horan and Alyssa Naeher were the five USWNT players nominated for the prestigious award.

Shots fired! Colorado Rapids call out USMNT for leaving Zack Steffen off September roster

The Colorado Rapids have taken to social media and expressed their outrage over goalkeeper Zack Steffen not being called up for the September U.S. men’s roster.

Steffen hasn’t featured for the USMNT since March 2022 and was last called up for the Concacaf Nations League in March 2023 but sat the bench for two games.

The 29-year-old has been having a renaissance with the Rapids this season and played a major role in the team’s run to finishing third in this summer’s Leagues Cup. The Rapids defeated FOUR Liga MX teams in the process and won three penalty shootouts.

It’s time to talk USWNT fans — Lindsey Horan needs to be benched

The United States women’s national team narrowly surpassed Japan in the Olympic quarterfinals on Saturday with a nervy 1-0 victory with several poor individual performances. USWNT captain Lindsey Horan had one of the worst showings.

The 30-year-old captain had a number of sloppy turnovers that turned into opportunities for Japan, she was far too slow on and off the ball and had a scare or two back on defense.

In the 35th minute she uncharacteristically let Japan’s Mina Tanaka spin away from her in the box to rip a shot that forced Alyssa Naeher into action.

Did Emily Fox snub Korbin Albert? Some USWNT fans believe Fox avoided high-fiving substitute

The United States women’s national team completed a sweep of their Olympic group stage on Wednesday with a 2-1 victory vs. Australia. One moment fans noticed was an Emily Fox Korbin Albert exchange, or lack thereof we should say.

In the 65th minute of the Australia game head coach Emma Hayes made a triple substitution with Trinity Rodman, Rose Lavelle and Fox coming off for Lynn Williams, Casey Krueger and Albert.

USWNT could have easier quarterfinal opponent if they finish second in Olympic group

The United States women’s national team are off to a flying start in the Olympics with a 3-0 victory against Zambia followed by a 4-1 masterclass vs. Germany. The USWNT have already secured a place in the quarterfinals.

As crazy as it sounds, some fans will be hoping they lose their final group stage game to finish second in the group.

Who would ever want that?? We’ll explain.

With only 12 teams competing in the women’s soccer tournament the format is a little odd with the top two teams advancing out of groups along with two third-place teams.

Emma Hayes admits the world has caught up to USWNT ahead of 2024 Olympics

United States women’s national team head coach Emma Hayes says that assuming the USA will reach the final or semifinals of the Olympics is “disrespectful” to the rest of the world.

Hayes spoke with the media on Tuesday ahead of the USWNT’s Olympic campaign and warned that the rest of the world has caught up to the U.S. in women’s soccer.

“Too often we keep talking about what we’re going to do in Paris, or what happens when you get to the semis or the finals,” Hayes said. “I think it’s disrespectful to the rest of the world to talk like that.”

Misfiring USWNT stumble to Paris with disappointing 0-0 send-off draw vs. Costa Rica

The United States women’s national team will be competing for gold in under two weeks and have a major conundrum. They can’t find the back of the net.

On Tuesday the Stars and Stripes played their send-off game at Audi Field in Washington D.C. against Costa Rica, ranked 44th in the world, and drew 0-0.

The USWNT had struggled to score against Mexico in their 1-0 victory on Saturday, and the problems carried over to Tuesday’s friendly.
