Sometimes it feels like fate is inevitable. But then there are times when even as you do the worst you could possibly do, things go your way. This happened in the Club America vs Queretaro penalty shootout in Copa MX.

Copa MX is underestimated by most. However, on occasion it delivers quite entertaining games. Sometimes this entertaining quality is not granted by the quality of the game but rather the opposite. This was the case when Club América hosted Querétaro in the Copa MX quarter finals.

C.F. Monterrey are cruising at the top of the Liga MX table with the playoffs looming, and they have the league’s stingiest defense to thank for that. Los Rayados have conceded only nine goals in 14 matches, and 18-year-old defensive midfielder Jonathan Gonzalez has played a large role in accomplishing that mean feat.

Former AC Milan midfielder Keisuke Honda is currently living his best life with Pachuca in Liga MX, as evidenced by the banger he scored against Zacatepec in the Copa MX.

With Pachuca up 1-0 in the 36th minute, Honda cut inside on his left foot and uncorked an Arjen Robben special.

Right when we thought things couldn't get worse for Chivas de Guadalajara, a shocking rumor comes roaring from overseas: The Mirror has reported that Chivas manager Matias Almeyda is now a “shock contender” to succeed Craig Shakespeare as Leicester City manager.

Although there had been persistent talk that Almeyda’s days managing Chivas were numbered, nothing had yet been solidified.

Club America vs. Chivas is always the biggest date on the Liga MX calendar. Originally postponed after Mexico City was hit by an earthquake, El Superclasico was finally played Wednesday.

Club América will host arch rivals Chivas de Guadalajara at Estadio Azteca with the two teams looking at very different scenarios. Twelve weeks into the Apertura 2017, champions Chivas de Guadalajara have absolutely no chance of making it to the Liguilla, the playoff round featuring the best eight teams of Liga MX.

After winning a much-desired title last season, “El rebaño sagrado” seemingly opted to sit in the armchair. With only five more matches to be played, Chivas occupies the 16th place in the table, followed only by Puebla and Pumas UNAM.

Cruz Azul and Club América share a history of passionate rivalry, epic clashes, dramatic finals and … fear? Fear has been an interesting feature between the two clubs ever since former Cruz Azul player Miguel Sabah stated he feared playing against “Las Águilas” back in 2008.
