Gio Reyna Stunner Revives Dortmund’s Champions League Hopes

DORTMUND, Germany - Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland scored twice in four minutes on Sunday, ending his seven-game goal drought in all competitions, to help his team to a 4-1 win over Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga and revive their hopes of a top four finish.

Fifth-placed Dortmund, on 49 points, cut the gap to Eintracht Frankfurt, in fourth, to four with five games left. The top four teams qualify for next season's Champions League.

Despite Catarina Macario Goal, PSG Ends Lyon’s Five-Year Reign As UWCL Champion

Paris Saint-Germain ended Lyon’s five-year reign as European champions as they progressed to the women's Champions League semifinals on away goals after securing a 2-1 win on Sunday.

Leading 1-0 from the first leg in Paris, Lyon doubled their advantage inside four minutes when Catarina Macario found the net from close range, before PSG midfielder Grace Geyoro equalized in the 25th minute.

Sergiño Dest Becomes First American To Win Copa Del Rey (And Look At That Messi Hug)

Sergiño Dest became the first U.S. international to start a Copa del Rey final and 90 minutes later became the first to lift the trophy as he helped Barcelona beat Athletic Bilbao 4-0 on Saturday at Estadio Olímpico de la Cartuja in Seville.

Zack Steffen Caught Out Of Position As Chelsea Ends Man City’s Quadruple Quest

Before Saturday’s FA Cup semifinal, Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola said he’d “lose the team” if he didn’t start American keeper Zack Steffen vs Chelsea. In the end, the decision may have lost the game.

Steffen made a positioning error to allow Chelsea to score the only goal in 1-0 defeat on Saturday at Wembley, costing the Citizens a chance at a rare quadruple. Steffen, who was otherwise faultless and moments later made a one-on-one save to atone, will no doubt rue his moment of indecision that allowed Hakim Ziyech a tap-in.

Everton’s Defense Gifts Kane Two Volleyed Goals In 2-2 Draw

LIVERPOOL, April 16 (Reuters) - Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane moved clear at the top of this season's Premier League scoring charts but his brace in a 2-2 draw at Everton was overshadowed by a late injury on Friday.

Kane took his tally to 21 for the season with a goal in each half but Gylfi Sigurdsson also scored twice for the hosts in a draw that did little for either side's fading top-four hopes.

Worryingly for Tottenham, and England, Kane hobbled off in stoppage time with what appeared to be an ankle injury.

Toronto Shocks León, Philadelphia Hammers Saprissa To Advance In CCL

Patrick Mullins and Justin Morrow scored in the second half and Toronto FC defeated Mexican club León 2-1 on Wednesday near Orlando, Fla., to advance to the second round of the CONCACAF Champions League 3-2 on aggregate.

Mullins struck first in the 55th minute when teammate Jacob Shaffelburg fed him a low cross into the box and he delivered it into the bottom right corner of the goal.

English Phenoms Dictate The Second Leg Between Man City And Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund’s Edin Terzić and Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola promised not to sit on any advantage in Wednesday’s Champions League quarterfinal second leg at Signal Iduna Park, but both were alternately guilty of doing just that in a tumultuous match that was ultimately decided by two second-half goals from the Premier League champion-elect.

But 40 minutes following Jude Bellingham’s marvelous opener for the home side, Borussia Dortmund genuinely believed.

Not Even Shattered Bus Windows Could Rattle Real Madrid In Professional Performance Against Liverpool

Real Madrid entered the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinals with a two-goal advantage. Los Blancos played as if they had an even larger cushion, looking comfortable and professional — even boring at times — in a 0-0 draw to complete a 3-1 aggregate victory over Liverpool on Wednesday at Anfield.

USWNT Looked Good Beating France, But That Audio Delay On ESPN Was Awful

ESPN announcers Julie Foudy and Sebastian Salazar talked a lot about the fact the pitch-side mics were clearly picking up everything USWNT coach Vlatko Andonovski was saying during his team’s friendly against France on Tuesday. The audio was certainly interesting, but more so because of a faulty output from ESPN than any tidbits gleaned from a coach yelling at his players.
