Thorgan Hazard has been a revelation for Borussia Mönchengladbach this season. The Belgian has scored 12 goals and assisted 12 in all competitions in Germany and has attracted suitors from across Europe.
Hazard left Chelsea on loan to Möchengladbach in 2015, where he would earn a permanent stay.
Borussia Mönchengladbach’s sporting director Max Eberl commented that Hazard will be looking for a move away from the club in the summer. Here are five potential destinations for the middle child of the talented Hazard family.
5. Potential Destinations For Thorgan Hazard Transfer
1. Dortmund
Dortmund has been reportedly ahead in the race to sign the 26-year-old, as a move to the potential league winners would mean Champions League football. In addition, Dortmund needs to replace Christian Pulisic and potentially Jadon Sancho if the Englishman chooses to leave in the summer.
Dortmund would be a good move for Hazard. He could play out wide or as a central striker. Dortmund needs more depth in the striker position anyway. Dortmund is also rumored to be Hazard’s first choice.
2. Liverpool
It was reported that Liverpool recently made an offer for Hazard, which would be a great move. However, it may be difficult seeing Hazard start over Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino.
If Hazard did move to Merseyside, it could turn out to be a Xherdan Shaqiri situation, seeing the Belgian more for squad depth and as an impact substitute. Mönchengladbach may prefer selling Hazard to Liverpool as the Reds can offer more money and obviously aren’t in the Bundesliga nor a title rival.
3. Atletico Madrid
A few Spanish papers contested that Atletico Madrid also wants to sign Hazard. He most likely would be battling for a place with Thomas Lemar in the starting lineup though, which could prove difficult.
4. Tottenham
Tottenham hasn’t been linked with a move for Hazard, but Spurs would suit Hazard’s playing style very well. This move is most likely a little too far-fetched as Spurs have squad depth in wide areas already.
5. Chelsea
Just kidding. Chelsea has a transfer ban and would send him out on loan again anyway.
