Stoppage Time Slugfest Leads To Everton Heartbreak In The 98th Minute

As fans stormed the field, Ross Barkley and Everton thought they’d won the game in the 95th minute. It seemed pretty clear. You score 5 minutes into stoppage time, you win. Bournemouth thought differently. After play resumed, in a matter of seconds, Bournemouth evened the score with a header from Junior Stanislas. And instead of reading "Everton glory," the headlines read "Everton heartbreak" instead.

How did Stanislas' wonder goal come to be? Thanks to the delay of game after fans stormed the field, the match went on for a few more minutes, giving Bournemouth one last chance.

Bournemouth currently hold the 18th position in the English Premier League, and a less determined squad may have walked off right then and there. But only in the Premier League do the teams fight until the very last whistle.

A lesson in premature celebration.

Check out both goals and all the drama in full below:

It goes to show how the beautiful game can change in the blink of an eye.
