In the lead-up to Saturday’s Old Firm derby match between Celtic and Rangers at Ibrox in Glasgow, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers talked up his striker Moussa Dembele’s knack for scoring goals in “big games.”
And, once again, the young Frenchman signed by Rodgers over the summer from Fulham has lived up to the hype.
In three matches against Celtic’s (big and bitter) rivals, Dembele has scored five goals. He netted a hat trick in his first-ever Old Firm match in September, scoring with his left foot, his right foot and via a header.
In October, Dembele scored the only goal in the waning minutes of Celtic’s League Cup semi-final win over Rangers.
And, as if that wasn’t enough, on New Year’s Eve (or Hogmanay in Scotland) in his first appearance at Ibrox, Dembele scored Celtic’s first goal, which was massive, given that the Hoops had conceded early in the match and were behind 1-0 at the time.
Here’s a video showing all five of the French striker’s goals:

Celtic would go on to win 2-1, making their record against Rangers a perfect 3-0 since Rodgers’ arrival in Glasgow. And, for that, the Irishman owes his striker a big, “merci!”
