The latest addition to the Allianz family of stadiums is Minnesota United’s new home in St. Paul, scheduled to open in time for the 2019 MLS season, Allianz Field. The 19,400-seat state of the art facility joins an impressive crop of stadia bearing the Allianz namesake — chiefly the homes of Bayern Munich, OGC Nice, Palmeiras and Juventus.
Based in the Midway neighborhood of the state’s capital, the latest renderings of Allianz Field showcase the eye-catching 360-degree canopy of translucent polymer mesh (which will also feature LED lighting) and the safe standing space for the Dark Clouds and True North Elite supporters’ groups.
The stadium has also won praise locally for its public transportation-friendly location and commitment to revitalizing a 34-acre site, including a 1.5-acre green space near the stadium.
