Eric Hassli was and still is a journeyman of a striker. He has played in France, England, Switzerland and the United States over a 15 year career that has seen him suit up for 10 different teams. The longest he has ever stayed with one team was 3 years with FC Zurich. He had a hard time staying in one place, but that did not stop him from scoring one of the best goals in league history at one of his destinations:
That goal happened on June 11, 2011, three months after he signed for the Vancouver Whitecaps on March 4, 2011. For all that nonsense you hear about players needing a season to adapt to a new league, clearly that didn’t stop Hassli from performing.
Including this goal, Hassli scored 12 in 44 matches for the Whitecaps in 2011: nothing stunning, but a pretty good contribution all things considered.
Hassli left Vancouver the next year for Toronto FC.
Clearly he doesn’t like to linger.
